United Nations Bangkok: Muhammad Shehzad Khan, President of Youth Council Pakistan, proudly represented Pakistan at the United Nations during the 9th Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum (APAN) — a landmark gathering jointly organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Bringing together over 1,000 young leaders from 50 nations, the Forum, held under the theme “Resilience for All: Catalyzing Transformational Adaptation,” showcased the power of collaboration, shared vision, and youth-driven innovation in addressing the climate crisis across the Asia-Pacific region.

In his impactful address, Shehzad highlighted Pakistan’s commitment and challenges in the face of climate change, emphasizing the country’s minimal contribution — less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions — yet its immense suffering from devastating floods in Buner, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Swabi, and various parts of Punjab. He presented Pakistan’s case as a frontline nation of climate vulnerability and resilience.
Shehzad pledged that Youth Council Pakistan, with its vibrant and capable network of young leaders, will spearhead nationwide climate action projects in partnership with academia, government, and global institutions — promoting nature-based solutions, green innovation, and sustainable resilience models.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s youth stand ready to be the architects of a climate-resilient future, transforming challenges into opportunities and ensuring that no community is left behind in the fight against climate change.
